David cropped for websiteI am a  master student (Social Sciences Research Master) at the University of Amsterdam, and a research assistant in the Group Violence Research Project. At the end of 2016 I became involved in the Group Violence Research Project as an assistant to Don Weenink and Raheel Dhattiwala, initially collecting and selecting videos and information to build up video analysis project database. I also helped to design and refine  the coding scheme, I was involved in reliability testing and the coding of the materialMy prime task is now to code video clips using the Observer Pro software for video analysis. During my bachelor I specialised in the sociology of institutions and labour markets, as well as following minors in economic sociology and economics. As I am just in the first year of my master, my scope of interests is still quite wide, including cultural sociology, the sociology of knowledge, economic sociology and political economy. Alongside my job as a research assistant I the Group Violence Research Project my master studies, I occasionally assist teachers in secondary education and offer preparatory training in state exams for students in secondary education.
